New Platform Unites Expertise in Quantum Research
The ZHAW School of Engineering is launching the Quantum Lab. This cross-institutional platform focuses on quantum topics and strengthens research in this field. Partners benefit from the expertise of the individual institutes in the field of quantum research.
With the new Quantum Lab platform, the ZHAW School of Engineering is focusing its research on quantum technology. The Quantum Lab brings together interdisciplinary expertise from various institutes to translate quantum technology theory into practical, application-oriented solutions. In collaboration with partners from science, industry, and government, projects in the quantum field are implemented from the basic research stage through to practical implementation. This covers a wide range of quantum research, from software, algorithms, and data science to physics, optics, mechanics, and embedded systems. The Quantum Lab’s services also include networked access to quantum resources, such as quantum computing centres and cloud offerings. The Quantum Lab enhances the visibility of quantum topics at ZHAW and helps organisations to quickly find the right expertise.
“Quantum research has been a focus at the ZHAW School of Engineering for some time, but there was little collaboration among the institutes in this area. With the Quantum Lab, we are now bringing together expertise from many different areas of quantum research,” says Pavel Sulimov, Head of the Quantum Lab platform. The following departments at ZHAW School of Engineering are involved in the Quantum Lab: the Institute of Computer Science (InIT), the Institute of Data Science (IDS), the Centre for Artificial Intelligence (CAI), the Institute of Computational Physics (ICP), the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Physics (IAMP), and the Institute of Mechanical Systems (IMES).
