Here you can find the current annual report of the ZHAW as well as all previous issues since 2007.

Our highlights in 2024

Major milestones for the ZHAW in 2024 included the opening of the Grüze Innovation Lab, the groundbreaking ceremony for the School of Engineering’s new campus, and the new personnel ordinance entering into force.

A total of 14,619 students were enrolled at the ZHAW, 11,921 Bachelor’s and 2,698 Master’s students. They studied across 34 Bachelor’s and 20 Master’s degree programmes. Additionally, a total of 3,655 employees worked at the ZHAW.

Our 2024 highlights include the development of an innovative solution by ZHAW researchers working in an international research team: they successfully reduced the computing power necessary for the spatial orientation of machines through a camera that functions like the human retina. Meanwhile, a ZHAW study showed that employees consider granting remote work a sign of trust and appreciation from employers, making it an important criterion in people’s job search. Also, ZHAW researchers collected the first-ever detailed data about occupational therapists in Switzerland. This helps ensure proactive responses to future challenges.

The ZHAW fosters an entrepreneurial mindset through its summer schools and strengthened its collaboration with the European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance (EELISA) by expanding joint educational programmes. Additionally, the online sharing platform for Open Educational Resources (OER), known as the OER repository, went live. The ZHAW University Library played a leading role in its development.
