FAQ – Onlearn Leadership Studio
Would you like to know exactly what Onlearn offers, how to get started, or which technology is behind it?
Here you will find the most important answers at a glance. We are also happy to provide individual information.
What is Onlearn – in one sentence?
Onlearn is the digital leadership studio of the IAP Institute of Applied Psychology at ZHAW: leaders work on real challenges from their daily work, supported by a specialised AI and compact micro learning units – with a clear transfer into practice.
Who is Onlearn for?
For leaders, project managers, specialists and anyone who leads, coordinates or develops others – wherever leadership happens in daily work.
How does Onlearn differ from learning platforms or course catalogues?
Most platforms start with content. Onlearn starts with the situation. Leaders bring in a real challenge; from it come relevant content, reflection prompts and concrete next steps. What is measured is application, not consumption.
What content and languages are available?
Onlearn covers twelve leadership competency areas – from decision-making, team leadership and change to self-leadership, conflict and the future of work. Content is available in German, English and French.
How much time does Onlearn require?
A unit takes 30 to 45 minutes, plus a few minutes for transfer – directly on a real task. Because people work on a challenge they have to deal with anyway, no separate learning time needs to be created alongside the work.
How do we get started – with a pilot or directly?
You can start with a standard annual subscription or with a six-week Proof of Value pilot. The pilot is fully countable towards the annual contract.
What learning paths does Onlearn offer?
Starting from a current challenge
Most leaders begin with a concrete situation from their working day.
Building competence in advance
Others prepare for a new role or upcoming challenges.
Example: Someone is about to lead a team for the first time. Before starting, they work through paths on role clarification, managing expectations and leadership communication – and arrive with an approach already tested in realistic situations.
In both cases, every unit ends with a concrete step into practice.
Does Onlearn also cover AI as a leadership topic?
We develop content on collaboration between people and AI in organisations. Topics without established evidence – such as the organisational design of an AI-native company or autonomous agents in team structures – are deliberately left out. The foundation remains psychologically grounded knowledge that has proven itself in practice.
Which technology does Onlearn use?
Onlearn runs on Sana Learn, the learning platform of our technology partner Sana Labs.

A browser is sufficient to start. Deeper integrations and SSO are available in enterprise packages if required. - Can we integrate our own content?
Yes. Guidelines, templates and policies can be integrated in context.

Is Onlearn industry-specific?
No. The content is role- and situation-based. The AI contextualises according to the person’s role, context and the specific challenge.
Are there team challenges or social features?
The primary focus is individual practice with strong transfer into real situations. Team routines and challenges can be supported through the learning culture programme if desired.
How long does the contract run and how flexible are seats?
Onlearn is based on an annual subscription. Seats can be added as needed; volume pricing applies from 40 users.
What support do we receive during rollout?
We support you with kick-off, onboarding and ongoing support via email and chat.
Onlearn is most effective in combination
The Leadership Studio can be combined with other IAP offerings:
- Workshops and Studio: Workshops create shared foundations. Onlearn supports deepening and application in daily work.
- Coaching bundles: For situations that need more than the dialogue in the studio, individual coaching can be added.
- Learning culture analysis: Development needs and progress can be made visible before and after a rollout.
Together we develop the right combination for your starting point.
