Description
Vaccines are limited resources. In case of a pandemic different distribution scenarios are possible (first come - first serve, lottery, children first, etc.). Based on advanced epidemiological models (compartmentalization, consideration of age- and group-specific infection rates, etc.) different scenarios are modeled. Depending on the desired optimization goal (based on ethical goals and theories of justice), suggestions for action guidelines are proposed. Important in this respect and made possible by models is the consideration of second-round effects, e.g. the effect on the rates of infection of the elderly by slowing the spread of a pandemic by increasing the vaccination of children.
