Description
‘Interspinous dynamic stabilization’ has been conditionally reimbursed in Switzerland since 2007 under the determination “Yes, in evaluation”. This temporary status is limited until the end of 2013. Further evidence has to be presented until then so that a new decision can be taken on the future reimbursement status of this health technology in Switzerland. The current reimbursement is linked to three conditions, which are: 1. Surgery should only be conducted by a qualified surgeon, 2. If the surgeon is not qualified, consent from a fiduciary doctor is necessary, 3. It is mandatory to collect clinical data in the SWISSspine registry. As new evidence recently became available, the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health requested the submission of a HTA that assesses this health technology (‘interspinous dynamic stabilization’).
