Our focus areas

Mental health is a key social challenge today: Stress—caused by work and performance pressure, uncertainty, social changes, and crises—is on the rise, and mental illnesses are among the most common causes of reduced quality of life and ability to work. The Institute for Mental Health therefore pools expertise on the entire lifespan, develops and researches practical solutions, and trains specialists; this strengthens mental health in the long term.

The IMH is active across the entire spectrum of mental health, with a focus on the following areas:

Teaching and research

In our bachelor's and master's degree programmes, we teach a wide range of developmental and health psychology knowledge as well as the fundamentals and applications of clinical psychology, that is, knowledge of the causes of mental disorders and treatment options. In our research, we address current topics in the field of mental health, including psychotherapy research and developmental psychopathology. We represent various therapeutic approaches, are committed to application-oriented work, and stand out with our expertise in quantitative and qualitative methodological knowledge.

Our subject areas

Continuing education

Our continuing education programmes combine practical know-how with research evidence. The focus is on the personal development of the course participants and on deepening their understanding of change processes in psychotherapy and counselling. Qualified lecturers and a modern infrastructure ensure an application-oriented and sustainable learning experience.

Consultancy Services
