Adolescents and film culture
The movie theatres are losing young audiences. Auteur films in particular are not drawing in large teenage audiences.
A pilot study in 2006 investigated what data are available on adolescents' film consumption and on film promotion among young people and on what data should be obtained to study adolescents' access to film culture. A national survey of 1,000 young people aged 12-18 was then conducted in the fall of 2007. Based on the findings, possible ways to promote young people’s interest in high-quality films were suggested. The survey in all parts of Switzerland was conducted by the School of Applied Psychology at ZHAW in cooperation with the University of Lausanne and the University of Lugano.
