Research

Research and development at the School of Social Work at the ZHAW focuses on four key topics:

• Childhood, youth and family
• Delinquency and crime prevention
• Diversity and social integration
• Management and social policy

Our research projects are based on socially and professionally relevant issues. The projects are designed to help bridge the gap between theory and practice, knowledge generation and knowledge application. Projects are supervised and implemented by qualified, well-networked researchers with extensive knowledge of the social and educational systems.

Our research groups work with internal and external partners in various ways:

• Developing research projects and appropriate implementations in collaboration with practice organisations
• National and international cooperation with other colleges and universities
• Interdisciplinary cooperation within the departments and across the entire university

The ZHAW School of Social Work conducts research on behalf of the federal government, cantons and municipalities, public and private institutions, foundations, NGOs and professional associations. It also implements projects supported by national research funding bodies and private foundations (e.g. Swiss National Science Foundation, Commission for Technology and Innovation, Age Foundation).
