Requirements and Application
Students who apply to study abroad through the ZHAW School of Management and Law are selected on the basis of their academic performance, their language ability, and their personal motivation.
Students must achieve a grade average in the assessment year of at least 4.00 to qualify for the exchange program. N.B. Therefore, a successfully completed assessment, together with fulfillment of the language requirements, will allow you to participate in an exchange.
Since studying abroad requires dealing with the challenges of academic content in a foreign language, students must have the language skills necessary to study in the language of instruction at the host university before they leave Switzerland. This is generally defined by the Common European Framework as Level B2+/C1 (competent user/proficient user). This requirement can be met by presenting evidence of an equivalent, recognized qualification (TOEFL, Cambridge certificate, or similar).
Most students who study in English at their host university should prepare themselves to study in this language. The general requirement for acceptance into the study abroad programs is an average grade of 4.00 in the English language modules (Business English 1+2 / Legal English 1+2).
In order to process applications in coordination with partner schools, an application must be submitted well in advance of the student's planned stay abroad. The following deadlines apply:
|Study mode||Timing of study abroad||Application deadline|
|Full-time students||In the 4th semester||End of 2nd semester: 15 July|
|In the 5th semester||End of 2nd semester: 15 July|
|Part-time students||In the 5th semester||End of 3rd semester: 1 February|
