Center for Corporate and Tax Law

Harald Baertschi

The legal requirements for doing business have increased. Knowledge of corporate and tax law is the key to success.”

Prof. Dr. Harald Baertschi, Head of Center for Corporate and Tax Law

Given the trend towards more regulation, matters of corporate law and tort, or liability, law and ways to optimize the tax burden are becoming more and more of a strategic success factor. The Center for Corporate and Tax Law deals with the many issues related to these areas of the law and focuses, in particular, on the needs of SMEs. We explore practical questions of business law such as company formation, contractual and extra-contractual liability, organization and leadership, restructuring, succession planning, and liquidation. A special focus of each area is the issue of tax implications. Our approach is geared towards aspects of corporate and tax law, which helps us address the needs of business leaders. It is what guides all our activities, in the school's BSc and MSc programs as well as in our research, services, and consulting work.

In our research activities, we analyze the legal doctrine and jurisprudence of corporate, contract, liability, financial market, and competition law, as well as tax law. In our projects, we research current problems of corporate and tax law and publish our findings in various publications.

The extensive practical and professional experience of our team in the area of Swiss and international law enables us to provide consultancy and services, give independent expert opinions, and do specialist analysis in collaboration with our business partners. Especially SMEs can benefit from our extensive know-how.
