MAS in Marketing Management


Knowledge of customer needs and a genuine affinity with clients are more than ever a necessary prerequisite for a successful career in marketing. The modular degree program teaches the strategic fundamentals of customer orientation and also enables participants to acquire skills in a range of different applications.

The program fees amount to CHF 31,200.

(CHF 7,800 per CAS program). The Master's thesis costs an additional CHF 2,800.

For each certificate degree program completed at ZHAW, students are credited CHF 700 towards the total amount. If all four CAS programs are completed at ZHAW, the diploma semester is free of charge.


Classes take place at the ZHAW School of Management and Law in Winterthur (close to the main railway station).

Objectives and content

Target audience

Professionals with responsible positions in marketing, communication, sales, or service with several years' professional experience, ideally in a leadership role.


Students of the MAS in Marketing Management acquire the skills to implement the client-sided elements of corporate strategy into a stringent marketing strategy. Students also gain extensive knowledge of their chosen focus subjects, enabling them to apply this directly in a practical context. The specialist, methodological, and social skills acquired equip students to undertake leadership roles in marketing in a professional way.

The modular structure of the MAS in Marketing Management gives students the opportunity to shape their MAS program according to individual needs. Depending on personal wishes and career goals, participants may select three other certificate courses in addition to the compulsory CAS in Strategic Marketing. The program concludes with a Master's thesis.


An integral part of the study program is the direct application of theoretical principles with the help of case studies and examples from everyday practice, in addition to reflection and discussion based on individual background and experience. Instructors with proven professional experience ensure the study program retains its practical relevance.


The certificate courses are offered as part-time study programs and take about four months. As a general rule, classes take place on Fridays and Saturdays of alternate weeks.

Admission to the MAS in Marketing Management depends on the following conditions for entry:

  • Diploma from a federally recognized university or school or certificate from a technical college (diploma, licentiate, Bachelor's or Master's degree)
  • At least three years' professional experience at the time of application, e.g., in general management, marketing, communication, sale, or service

Individuals without a university degree are admitted if they satisfy the following entry requirements:

  • Comparable qualification
  • At least five years' professional experience at the time of application, e.g., in general management, marketing, communication, sale, or service, preferably in a leadership role
  • Proof of ability to do scientifically-based work

In some cases, the Head of Program will conduct a personal pre-admission interview before any decision is made. In justified cases, the Head of Program may deviate from the standard enrollment conditions.
