We focus on national and international business law and explore the intersection of business and law. Our core competencies include the following key areas of business law: corporate and tax law, labor and social law, competition law and compliance and public commercial law. We form collaborative ventures and networks with first-rate partners from the academic domain and the business world, both nationally and internationally.

The Department of Business Law is responsible for the content of the following academic programs at the ZHAW School of Management and Law:

Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Law

The Business Law degree programme combines a legal and a business education and focuses on national and international business law - a degree programme with a future that bridges the gap between law and business administration.

Bachelor’s Degree Program in Business Law

Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Law

The Bachelor's programme in Applied Law provides a general legal education covering the core areas of Swiss law. Particular emphasis is placed on legal language and methodological skills. The programme prepares you for a wide range of legal activities in the areas of private law, public law and criminal law.

Bachelor’s Degree Program in Applied Law

Master of Science (MSc) in Management and Law

The interdisciplinary Master's programme in Management and Law combines management competence with legal competence and focuses on strategic, operational and legal project and change management.

Research & Business Services

Our research and development activities are geared towards applied law. Research projects are financed by grants from public funding agencies such as the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF) or the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI), as well as partners in the business community and the public sector.

Publications

We join forces with renowned publishing houses to develop practical publications and publication series, including books of reference ("Schweizer Vertragshandbuch", "Handbuch Schweizer Aktienrecht", and "Handbuch Internationales Handels- und Wirtschaftsrecht") and series of textbooks ("Rechtswissenschaft für die Praxis").

We provide consultancy services on legal matters for companies of all business sectors as well as official bodies and associations. Our team of experts consists of specialists with a wide range of legal knowledge and experience. Close ties to the commercial sector combined with our research and teaching activities give us an interdisciplinary approach to consulting.
