Datalab Seminar Talk of Prof. Haiwang Cao (Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics, China), AI application in safety support for civil airports, Room TH 343, Fri, 08/09/2019 12:30 - 14:00
At Friday, 9th August from 12:30 to 14:00, we have a very interesting talk from Prof. Haiwang Cao (Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics)
The event takes place in the room TH 343.
Title: AI application in safety support for civil airports
Abstract: New technologies provide civil airport safety with new supports as well as challenges. One of the most important challenges is the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which appears to be a major obstacle for traditional detecting methods, especially when UAVs are non-cooperative targets. By applying machine learning, we can continuously trace the non-cooperative UAVs in multiple environment and backgrounds, identify them within a certain distance and make the counter-UAV step more precisely. AI may also protect airlines from bird’s strike, which has been a long-term problem for civil airport safety. By analyzing historical data and by combing the data with the airport condition, Big Data provides new ways for civil airports with bird’s alarming to avoid the potential risks.
