Outgoing students – venture out into the world!

How about a semester or a clinical placement abroad? We encourage our students to be mobile!

Spending a semester or a clinical placement abroad is a valuable experience for any student and offers the opportunity to learn how health professions are taught and practised in other countries. During their studies at ZHAW, students are regularly informed about worldwide opportunities to study abroad.

Practical experience

We enable our students to spend semesters abroad at a number of partner institutions, mainly as part of compulsory clinical placements in the Bachelor’s degree programmes.

Semester abroad

Spending an international semester at one of our partner universities as part of a Bachelor’s programme is a valuable experience for any student, which broadens their professional and cultural horizons. The Coordinators for International Relations at our four institutes assist students in planning and organising their stay.

A particularly attractive opportunity for students is the European Master of Science in Occupational Therapy with its slogan: 5 modules – 5 partners – 5 countries.

Master’s students of the MSc in Nursing and the MSc in Midwifery programs can apply for a double-degree programme with the University of Witten/Herdecke (UW/H) in Germany and complete two semesters at that partner university. As part of the double-degree programme, they receive an MSc diploma from both universities.

Short-term exchanges

From conferences to module visits and study trips – each institute at the ZHAW School of Health Sciences offers students a variety of opportunities for short stays abroad within Europe.

International Days

“International Days” offer our students the chance to learn about opportunities to study abroad. Since 2014, ZHAW has organised international days in March/April each year.
