International studies
Spending a semester or a clinical placement abroad is a valuable experience for any student and offers the opportunity to learn how health professions are taught and practised in other countries.
The School of Health Professions promotes student mobility both for incoming students from other universities and for outgoing students from ZHAW who want to spend one or more semesters at a foreign university of applied sciences. Students in the various degree programmes are regularly informed about available opportunities. Please note that you must meet any requirements specified in the individual degree programmes to be able to do a semester or a clinical placement abroad.
Incoming students – welcome to Winterthur!

Would you like to study at the School of Health Professions at ZHAW for one semester or do a clinical placement in German-speaking Switzerland?
Outgoing students – venture out into the world!

Are you enrolled at the School of Health Professions at ZHAW and would like to undertake a clinical placement or semester abroad? Are you interested in other ways of studying abroad as part of your studies?
Internationalisation at home – home students can also gain experience

Would you like to experience international contacts at home? The School of Health Professions organises Winter Schools and Summer Schools, as well as other activities that attract international students to come and study here.
ZHAW is among the most popular universities of applied sciences in Switzerland for international students
In an independent ranking on the satisfaction of international students in Europe, ZHAW was voted first in Switzerland in 2013 and third in 2014.
The “International Student Satisfaction Award” was awarded by StudyPortals, a private company that cooperates with more than 1,200 universities across 40 countries. This platform is funded by the EU Commission and aims to create transparency in the international European academic landscape.
