With our Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Computer Science and the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) and Certificates of Advanced Studies (CAS) included in it, we offer a generalist additional and/or secondary degree for people who work in or are seeking to enter the challenging fields of software development, the operation of IT systems, IT project management, IT systems/product consultancy or sales.
Since many subject areas in the field of Computer Science develop and change very rapidly, we place a high priority on teaching conceptual knowledge in our courses, which will enable you to work on the front lines of IT development both today and in the future and also adapt quickly to new methods and technologies.

The ZHAW School of Engineering was one of the first universities of applied sciences to offer courses in Data Science. The Diploma of Advanced Studies (DAS) in Data Science offers the tools you need to deal with complex issues at the intersection between data, IT and business, demonstrate new solution approaches and develop them alone or in a team. The “DAS Data Science” programme has a mod-ular design and is composed of three Certificates of Advanced Stud-ies (CAS).
WBK Quantitative Trading Strategies
The course ‘Quantitative Trading Strategies’ allows the use of advanced statistical and programming tools to create and visualise leading-edge trading strategies. The course is set in an interdisciplinary environment and provides knowledge in the areas of programming, trading strategies, quantitative approaches to financial markets, statistical data analysis, statistics, big data, information gathering, foundation of IT knowledge, exploratory data analysis and data visualisation techniques.
At the end of the course, participants will have built an interactive simulation and visualisation tool that can create optimal multi-asset trading strategies. They will be able to analyse portfolio optimisation strategies based on advanced academic concepts via back-testing methodologies in a historical context and use real-world financial data to create their own trading strategies.
