NTN Satellite Connectivity for IoT
We successfully tested NTN (Non-Terrestrial Networks) satellite connectivity, which is based on a modified NB-IoT version in 3GPP Rel-17 and enables IoT devices to communicate from anywhere on earth. In the test, we could reliably transmit small UDP packets from the UE to our test server. For the UE we used a Nordic Semiconductor nRF9151-SMA-DK with an ommi-directional antenna and a SIM card from Monogoto to connect to the network of Skylo, which uses geostationary satellites.
