Persönliches Profil

Tätigkeit an der ZHAW als

Scientific Officer for European Research and Innovation

www.zhaw.ch/icbt/europeancooperations/

Scientific project management for basic and applied research within ICBC for all centres, since July 2013. Main fields are Medicinal Chemistry, Tissue Engineering, Biochemistry, Green Chemistry, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Process Chemistry, Functional Materials and Nanotechnology. Supporting the development of research and innovation strategy at European level in close collaboration with the Director of Institute, Heads of Centres and scientists. I create and scout out research cooperation opportunities at European level, build innovative project ideas and international research consortia mostly in applied research with innovation and business potential for Horizon 2020 and similar programs. I bring our institute and competences into international networks and technology platforms such as the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry (SusChem) and European Technology Platform for Nanomedicine (ETPN, Nanomedicine), as well as Public Private Partnerships like SPIRE and BBI. I work at the interface of science, business and people, in interdisciplinary working groups with industrial and research partners as well as the policy makers from European Commission. I am expert in European research and innovation funding programmes, since I have been involved in the implementation of PPPs and Horizon 2020, and I am also expert evaluator of H 2020 research proposals. Therefore, I significantly facilitate the scientists' application by identifying the most suitable calls for their research interests and vision. I inform, support and consult the scientists on a daily basis at scientific and business level, and my aim is to bring and make all of them successful into European networks and acquire long-term and augmented research funding for their continuous development, growth and success.

From the 1st January 2016 I will be responsible for a new Institute, the Institute of Chemistry and Biotechnology, which has been created by the merger of the Institute of Chemistry and Biological Chemistry and Institute of Biotechnology. Therefore, I will be responsible for many more scientists and I am glad to take this opportunity and responsibility for a new, big Institute. My aim is to bring the new Institute to be at least as successful as ICBC and IBT until now, guiding and supporting scientists, bringing their competences to Europe and involve them in European research projects and platforms, scientific working groups and facilitate them countless opportunities and research funds.

Please note, that the new institute ICBT will be officially operating from the 1st January 2016 but it will be a process to bring the former IBT colleagues' expertise under the ICBT roof. I am continuously taking care of the research centres and scientists and I very much look forward to talking to you all.
