Industrie Biomediche Insubri SA
Industrie Biomediche Insubri SA (as known shortly as IBI) is an innovative hi-tech Swiss biomedical company focused on research, development and production of medical devices for tissue engineering and reconstructive surgeries: bone substitutes, 3D grafts, scaffolds.IBI believes that regenerative medicine and tissue engineering represent the future for health and fully embraces the nature-inspired philosophy when it comes to develop innovative products for regenerative medicine. IBI has strong competencies and core skills in processing materials for biomedical applications, used to develop proprietary technologies to build its products targeting unmet clinical needs. IBI pays extreme attention to safety and quality: IBI is ISO13485 certified, chooses only fully certified raw materials for its products and runs manufacturing in its ISO7 clean rooms.
Services
IBI prime and major product is SmartBone®, an innovative composite biomaterial developed for bone regeneration in reconstructive surgeries in all skeletal districts: it is, indeed, available in blocks of various sizes and shapes, granules, microchips and also custom-made. It is produced by combining spongious bovine-derived mineral matrix with resorbable biopolymers and collagen fragments. This hybrid composition guarantees exceptional biomechanical properties and promotes osteogenic process to obtain optimal and fast osteointegration. After grafting, SmartBone® is totally resorbed and replaced by patient’s own bone once remodeling process is completed. Its 27% open-porous microstructure mimics the human bone ones and promotes the patient’s cells to efficiently colonize and to quickly grow into SmartBone®, while its biopolymers degrade, providing a perfect integration and osteoconduction.
SmartBone® intimate structure makes of it also an ideal stem cell supporting scaffold for combined therapeutic approaches.
SmartBone® on Demand™ is the custom-made bone grafts line, designed specifically for the needs of each patient, starting from CT images, especially developed to manage complex cases. The perfect contact between the graft and the recipient site improves the integration: it allows a correct application of guided surgery techniques and lets to reduce surgery time, difficulty and risks.
