German for incoming students
If you want to gain confidence in your written and oral German communication skills, why not join other students from around the world in a lively and communicative foreign language classroom?
Guided by motivated and experienced instructors from the Language Competence Centre of the ZHAW you can practise communication skills and naturally acquiring the vocabulary and grammar needed to deal competently with everyday situations. We provide up-to-date listening and reading material to help you become more familiar with your German-speaking environment. Developing independent learning strategies also makes up an important part of the course as they will enable you to broaden and deepen your knowledge of the local language and culture on your own.

You have to take the ZHAW entry test if you are not able to provide proof of your German knowledge.
Registration for the entry test is not necessary.
- No charge for lessons for exchange students. In case you are not an exchange student, please discuss the cost coverage with your programme director. Only thereafter is your registration valid.
Additional cost of 50 CHF for course material.
Course registration is binding. You will receive information on your course level and location before the beginning of the course.
In order to complete the course successfully, your active participation in class and regular time for independent learning are required.
3 ECTS credits will be awarded upon successful completion of the course (attendance of 80% of the lessons and active participation).
Registration is binding and closes on 21 February 2019. Please note: Places are limited. Registrations will be accepted upon receipt. When classes are full, further applications will be waitlisted.
