Scientific collaborator / Postdoc in shared mobility (80-100%)

Your responsibilities will be

  • applied research in an Innosuisse funded research project
  • develop theoretically founded and practically tested algorithms for optimizing free-floating carsharing by user incentives
  • cooperate with industrial application partners for testing and implementing the algorithms in a concrete use case

The objective of the research project is to develop a novel methodology for setting state-based incentives for users in order to reduce operator-based redistribution costs in a free-floating car-sharing setting. We do this in a multidisciplinary approach combining operations research and social science approaches for developing an incentive system that is both attractive for users and cost-efficient for the provider.

The offered position covers the operations research part of the project and focuses on the development of efficient incentive control strategies, based on mathematical optimization. However, there will be intensive collaboration both with social scientists and with application partners. Interest and ability in working in such an environment is mandatory.

The successful candidate has a PhD or an excellent MSc in Operations Research, Computer Science, or traffic engineering. The position requires very good knowledge as well as experience in data-based modeling, optimization, statistical data analysis and simulation, preferably in the area of shared mobility solutions. A successful candidate has proven both a high scientific originality and excellence, and the ability to adapt the own solutions to the requirements of an industrial application case.

Good English language skills are mandatory, fluency in German is a strong asset. We expect very good communication skills and a high social competency.
