Within the Research Group Information Engineering of the Institute of Applied Information Technology (www.zhaw.ch/init), we are looking for a highly motivated and excellent candidate as
Research Assistant for Information Retrieval and Natural Language Processing (Information Engineering Group)
• Contribute to research projects in the areas of information retrieval, information extraction, message understanding, natural language processing and content-based recommender systems
• Become an expert in the aforementioned fields, with a track record of published own research results and successful technology transfer
The successful candidate has finished a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science at a research university or a university of applied sciences within the last two years. He or she must demonstrate some prior experience in information retrieval or related fields (e.g., coursework or project work). We expect a good command as well as a passion for programming. Good communication skills in English and in German are an asset for the work in multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate has an affinity to related fields in Information Engineering, such as big data and machine learning/artificial intelligence, and will demonstrate a flair for academic work, identifying unsolved problems and proposing novel ideas for future activities. Particular emphasis is given to developing prototypes, experimenting hands-on with data, and scientific evaluation and publication of results.
