The SHCD study is a research project of the National Research Program NFP-74 "Smarter Health Care" by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) for Scientific Research (http://www.nfp74.ch/de). The study investigates Swiss outpatient care using a yet scientifically unexploited database from Swiss nonprofit home care organizations (Spitex). It aims at answering the following questions: who uses outpatient care, when, where, and due to which health problems? The results of the study should enable optimal planning of care services, which is of high relevance given the increasing prevalence of long-term care at home.
Applicants with a university degree (MSc) in Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Nursing or Medicine, Psychology, Sociology or any other social science discipline are welcome. We expect solid experience in statistical data analysis and in the application of a statistical program at MSc level, as well as good oral and written language skills in both German and English (Level B2).
We offer insight and first-hand experience in a relevant field of public health research. Professors from two well-established academic institutions - the Research Center for Health Sciences at the ZHAW and the Institute for Nursing Science at the University of Basel - will supervise the PhD and you will benefit from the integration in both institutions. The workplace is therefore located in both Winterthur and Basel (50% / 50%). Enrollment at the University of Basel and participation in the PhD program SPINE (Swiss PhD Platform in Nursing Science Education) in the field of Nursing Science is expected.
