Two positions as PhD candidate 100%: NRP 80 Project "Child Protection in times of Covid-19 and beyond"

At our location in Zurich, in the Campus Toni-Areal, an urban and cosmopolitan place of creativity, we are looking for support to the NRP 80 Project "Child Protection in times of Covid-19 and beyond: Countering the impact of stressors, constraints and uncertainties on families, professionals and organizations"

Your role
- Research activities in all phases of the project "Child Protection in times of Covid-19 and beyond" funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (for more details click on the link)
- Initiation and active development of your dissertation (at a university in Switzerland) based on the data collected in the project over a period of three years
- Active participation in the publication of research results (conference papers, scientific publications and research reports)
- Active participation in collaborations with field partners as well as synergizing NRP 80 projects
Your profile
Applicants should hold a Master's degree, preferably in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or a related social and behavioral science. Both positions are limited to three years.
For both positions you should have a strong interest in topics of child protection and have an affinity to tackle issues of relevance to the institutional child protection system. PhD candidates require good or very good knowledge in research methods and the willingness to advance your research skills. One of the two candidates focuses on organizational and professional perspectives wide range of institutions by utilizing quantitative methods and the other candidate approaches subjective experiences and perceptions of professionals and clients in core interventions of child and youth care through qualitative methods. Solid user skills in software for statistical analyses (SPSS and/or R) or text analyses (MAXQDA) are an advantage. For both positions you should be fluent in German and English and have a good command of French, both orally and in writing. In addition, we are looking for candidates with a reliable and proactive personality who appreciate close collaboration in an interdisciplinary team.
