After Work Lecture: Group Therapies with Children and Adolescents

19. Dezember 2017

What kind of group therapy is suitable for children and adolescents with social, emotional or occupation-based problems?

Die After Work Lecture ist in Englischer Sprache.

Dr. Mary Barnes will discuss this topic based on practical examples in the USA of intra- and interdisciplinary groups with children and adolescents. With these examples Dr. Barnes will share particular challenges of leader-ship of therapeutic groups and illuminates different approaches based on group theory and evidence.

Participants are encouraged to present their practical questions concern-ing leadership of therapeutic groups in general as well as with children and adolescents specifically. Possible evidence based solutions for practical application with leader rationale will be discussed.

Dr. Mary Barnes
Mary Barnes is an Occupational Therapist and works as a fieldwork coordinator at Tufts University in Massachusetts. She was involved in developing the Functional Group Model, an instrument to measure outcomes of group leader training related to common leader behaviours and continues to participate in research projects regarding therapy fieldwork.
