Haus Albert Frey

Künftig trägt unser Hallenkomplex – bestehend aus der Halle 180 (Gebäude MA) und den angrenzenden Hallen 189 (Gebäude MC) und 191 (Gebäude MD) – offiziell den Namen des Schweizer Architekten Albert Frey.

Albert Frey wurde am 18.10.1903 in Zürich geboren. Er studierte am damaligen Technikum Winterthur Architektur und schloss sein Studium 1924 ab. Danach arbeitete er unter anderem für Le Corbusier in Paris und wanderte 1930 in die USA aus, das Land seiner späteren Hauptwirkungsstätte Palm Springs.

Der Stil seiner Bauten wurde später als Desert Modernism bezeichnet. Albert Frey verstarb am 14.11.1998 in Palm Springs. Während seiner Schaffenszeit hat Albert Frey zahlreiche spannende Ideen zur Baukultur beigetragen. Mit seinem Pioniergeist und Tatendrang dient er unserem neuen Hallenkomplex als idealer Namenspatron.
