Internships Abroad

An internship abroad allows you to simultaneously acquire professional qualifications, international experience and intercultural competence. During an internship abroad, you’ll gain insight into the activities of a foreign employer, benefit from the cross-cultural experience in a multinational team and through direct contact with people from you host country. Regardless of whether a course calls for a compulsory internship or you opt for a voluntary placement abroad: it is important to learn to reflect on theory in light of practice. Furthermore, contacts established within the framework of an internship in the future may prove to be very valuable.

The online guide Grenzenlos praktisch? provides an initial overview of the information you need to know for a successful international internship. It focuses on information about forms and internship placement, but also offers insight on inter-cultural aspects and practical tips to help you best prepare. The ZHAW practicum coordination office offers support for students planning, organizing, and completing an internship abroad.
