Internationalisation at Home

Everyone is talking about international competence these days. It is increasingly a matter of course that employers at home and abroad expect graduates from Swiss universities to demonstrate international ability, foreign language knowledge, intercultural competency, and extroversion toward the world. These skills are central to effective cooperation in multinational teams, successful interactions with foreign customers, and capable decision making in a world characterised by uncertainty.

In addition to promoting international experience and in-line with the university's applied orientation, the ZHAW also promotes the local realisation of international competence. We are of the opinion that internationalisation begins not abroad, but at our own doorstep. One of the strengths of the ZHAW courses is that they are international. In our curriculum, we provide international knowledge, strong comparative approaches, cultivate intercultural cooperative skills, promote foreign languages, offer double degrees, and organise summer schools and pre-departure workshops. Even extra-curricular events and activities contribute to the international flair of the ZHAW campus. Local sections of internationally-oriented student associations make a significant contribution here.
