International Research, Development and Services

The applied research, development and services contribute to the solution of human problems in natural and social environments. The increased complexity of the problems and their associated rising costs  mean that research activities are increasingly being developed in international cooperation. Today, no country can achieve advances in science and technology on its own. The major challenges of the present and future can only be mastered through shared responsibility. This is true for dealing with climate change, energy, security, migration and poverty reduction. Most departments deal with issues that transcend disciplinary boundaries and national interests. Exchanges with teams from related areas is part of everyday life for researchers, as they seek to cooperate for their mutual benefit by sharing ideas, results and existing resources. The European Research Area boasts not only cooperative features, but also is characterised by its competitive elements. Together with their academic and business partners, the ZHAW researchers take on the existing challenges and participate in bi-lateral and multi-lateral research projects and programmes.
