Business Information Technology

The central resource for corporations in the third millennium is information. Business Information Technology deals with the planning, development, implementation, and utilization of information and communications systems in organizations, and makes an important contribution to these functions in the age of information.

The role of business information technology has changed significantly over the last decades: originally and principally used as a means of rationalization, today it is a decisive factor in strategic corporate positioning. The growing connection between operational functions and processes demonstrates that business information technology plays a decisive role in the development and implementation of new business models. For a long time now, it has been much more than an interface between business administration and information technology: it creates new potential as a discipline in its own right.

The economy needs well-trained, network-oriented business information managers with broad business administration expertise, advanced specialist knowledge in business information technology, and pronounced communication and social skills. The demand for people with such competences is growing all the time. Business information managers are at the nerve center of a corporation and responsible for its functional capability and optimization. They analyze business processes and test their support potential through information and communication technologies; they design, plan, implement, and operate innovative and complex socio-technical systems.

The Bachelor degree program in Business Information Technology at the ZHAW School of Management and Law prepares participants for positions in management, IT-consulting, as well as in project management and the modeling of corporate processes. The degree program concludes with a nationally recognized Bachelor degree which is internationally accredited by FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation).
