Financial intermediation is the main focus of the Institute of Banking & Finance in terms of its teaching, applied research, and development of the institute. The institute consists of four centers, the Center for Accounting & Controlling, the Center for Business Banking, the Center for Alternative Investments & Risk Management and the Center for Risk & Insurance (in German). These reflect the main teaching and research interests of the institute.
