The Institute of Mechatronic Systems is one of the leading research institutions for applied science and mechatronic developments in Switzerland and has a strong international reputation. We implement our innovative projects in close cooperation with industry by using state-of-the-art scientific methods, comprehensive know how and latest laboratory equipment.
Our team is made up of more than thirty highly qualified, industry proven and multidisciplinary professors, experienced engineers and motivated master students that carry out applied research and development on a national and international level in the following areas:

• Medical Systems & Instruments

The Institute of Mechatronic Systems is one of the largest institutes at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. Apart from research and development the institute is also responsible for teaching in all degree programs offered by the School of Engineering. In particular, the IMS also assumes the role of the Master Research Unit (MRU) in the field of Mechatronics and Industrial Technology.
This broad spectrum provides the institute with an excellent technological infrastructure that enables us to engage in numerous application-orientated research activities. Due to our extensive contacts with industry and well-known national and international universities, our students have versatile opportunities to acquire versatile international experience and skills.
